We are delighted to introduce our newly appointed Elder, Marius Bester, and Deacon, Rudi Du Plessis, individuals who exemplify the qualities outlined in the Scriptures. As Titus 1:5 states, “The reason I left you in Crete was that you might put in order what was left unfinished and appoint elders in every town, as I directed you.” These elders have been prayerfully selected to guide and shepherd our congregation, just as Timothy was instructed in 1 Timothy 3:1-13. Our Deacon, Rudi Du Plessis, too, embodies the servant-hearted spirit emphasized in 1 Timothy 3:8-13, “Deacons, likewise, are to be worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain. They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience.”

In addition to these qualifications, as mentioned in 1 Peter 5:1-4, elders are called to be shepherds of God’s flock, not out of compulsion but willingly, serving with eagerness and humility. They are not to lord over those entrusted to them but rather set an example for the congregation. As we welcome Marius Bester and Rudi Du Plessis to their roles, we look forward to their continued dedication in serving our community with integrity and shepherding hearts, in accordance with the biblical teachings.
